A pharmacist whose innovation is improving care for patients was one of five winners from Lancashire at the North West Coast Research and Innovation Awards

Alistair Gray, Chief Pharmacist at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, was named Innovation Champion at the recent North West Coast Research and Innovation Awards on 9 February 2017.

 

Alistair was awarded for his work in developing and establishing ‘Refer to Pharmacy’ – a tool that has led to huge improvements in patients’ use of medication after being discharged from hospital.

Pfizer will extend its medicines optimisation awareness campaign into 2013 with a launch to consumers on the 25th of November. This year, the campaign which first appeared in October 2012, reveals statistics from a new patient survey about how the public take their medicines highlighting the importance of medicines adherence and the expertise available within community pharmacy to support patients in getting the best out of their medicines.
