Pharmacy practice

Support for the development of this editorial was provided by the Business Unit Compounding of Fresenius Kabi

At Fresenius Kabi, we are focused on being a full service partner by providing a complete parenteral nutrition (PN) solution to patients through the hands of health care professionals. Moreover, with our KabiHelp Compounder, tailor-made, individualised admixtures, for preterm to geriatric patients, can be produced, while reducing the need for manual additions.
The KabiHelp compounder will be launched at EAHP Congress 2018

The launch of KabiHelp will take place during the 23rd Congress of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists in Gothenburg, Sweden, 21–23 March 2018. The device will be available at the Fresenius Kabi booth for delegates to view and to learn about, and to join the movement shaping the future in health care.

Shaping tomorrow in PN compounding

The pharmaceutical industry is a dynamic environment. Continuing research and development results in new, safe and effective medicines, which impacts positively on public health. However, there have been no major changes in the field of individualised PN compounding since 2005; the main innovations have been in the development of multi-chamber bags over this time. However, standardised PN can never fully replace the need for individualised compounding, and developments are once again being made.
KabiHelp is easy to use and adaptable, offering 12-, 24- and 36-port variants of transfer sets. By having the possibility to choose predefined configurations and/or save established configurations, KabiHelp reduces the preparation time and, crucially, potential errors. Added safety is supported by barcode verification and interface possibility with order entry systems. Additionally, a minimal pump transfer volume of 0.1ml and speed up to 1000ml/min ensures fast and reliable performance for daily compounding work. KabiHelp also features two levels of checking: gravimetric, and volumetric. The final validation weight is confirmed through a built-in, high-precision Sartorius load cell. Furthermore, continuous air bubble and occlusion detection contributes to KabiHelp being an embodiment of safety and compliance in your daily work, in line with the highest quality standards.

Seeing is believing

The EAHP Congress is one of the largest congresses of its kind in Europe, and attracts up to 4000 hospital pharmacists every year. One of the main draws for the EAHP congress attendees is the ability to exchange international experiences with peers and to be updated about the news in the world of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals.

Fresenius Kabi also has big news to announce and, as in previous years, our team will attend EAHP in 2018. Provided that your target meets our mission, that is, to help care for critically and chronically ill patients, we are here to facilitate your irreplaceable work with our broad product portfolio, which now also includes our new PN compounder, KabiHelp. It is not just about the new device, but also all about forward thinking in compounding. Welcome aboard!
